¡Bienvenido a la Costa del Sol!
Nerja was a freak accident, a lucky mistake made by my main partner in crime, Bryan. He picked it randomly...and it remains the best random decision ever. A part of the Sun Coast, Nerja earns its title with smooth European charm, Mediterranean chill and beautiful views. A small town and a total must! Sorry for the lack of pics; I was busy frolicking...yes, frolicking.

Granada, Andalucía, España
I've been obsessed--for some time--with Granada and to an even greater extent La Alhambra, the historical palace and UNESCO sight that housed the likes of Washington Irving and Catherine of Aragon. Granada is nestled in Andalucia, a region (in my opinion) second only to Madrid. Andalucia exhibits the greatest influence and fusion of Spanish and Arab cultures. Really, I never would've begun studying Arabic without being inspired by the--at times glaringly out of place--fusion.
The red palace was, of course, beautiful; however, the patio de los leones was under renovation when we visited and the sheer amount of construction did take away form the general mystique. All-in-all, I definitely recommend Granada. The beautiful countryside and rock formations are just another reason I believe Spain is one of the most underrated countries in Europe.
There were secret treasures to be had in Granada. In an attempt to escape the heat, Bryan and I retreated to Shana...a store I normally wouldnt be caught dead shopping in. In this particular Shana there were various areas with glass floors...and underneath? ruins. :)
In this (unknown) Plaza the Ayuntamiento put on a concert for families and 'general well being'. It was clear that mostly old couples had gotten dressed (to the nines) just to come out and have a good time in the square. It was cute, something you'd only get in Spain. See below.
